Frequently Asked Questions

Who is eligible to apply for this scholarship?
All Egyptian nationals under the age of 35 are eligible for the Citadel scholarship.
The full set of criteria is available here.

What fields and countries of study are eligible under the Citadel scholarship?
All academic fields and countries are eligible under the Citadel Scholarship.

What are the degrees funded by the Citadel Scholarship?
QHSF is currently only funding full Master's degrees. The mode of study must be on-campus (we do not fund online degrees) and must be full-time.

How much funding does the scholarship offer?
The Citadel Scholarship funds under two schemes: the full scholarship covering tuition and living expenses and the partial scholarship covering tuition only. The ceiling for tuition fees is 50,000 USD per annum.

On what basis do you decide who will obtain the full scholarship vs. the partial?
This decision is decided based on the quality of the application, financial condition of the applicant and is ultimately assessed by the evaluating committee.

What are the conditions for applying?
The main condition to apply for a Citadel scholarship is to be accepted at the university of choice. High ranking universities are always preferred. Information on university rankings can be obtained through the internet, we do not consult one particular ranking system. A valid official acceptance letter from the university is required for the application to be processed. Conditional acceptance letters are acceptable if they are solely on condition of financing. Acceptance letters with language conditions will not be accepted.

When is the QHSF application form available for download?
The form is available for download during the period of accepting applications which is from January 15th to April 30th of every year. Since our application package must include an acceptance letter to the university of choice, applicants are encouraged to apply to universities as early as possible (for the following fall semester) to ensure that they obtain their acceptance letters before our deadline. As soon as the acceptance letter is obtained, applicants must simply fill in our application form and prepare the remaining required documents, and submit them to us by post before the April 30th.

I have already begun my Master's degree. Can I apply for funding my second year?
No. QHSF does not fund students who have already begun their programs.

Do you have a preferred list of universities?
No. We have no preferred list, nor do we direct the scholars to where they should study, largely because we are open to funding all academic disciplines and also because we expect our applicants to have good general knowledge of the field they want to further pursue.
We encourage our applicants to carefully research the different programs offered in their field of interest and aim for the most respected ones offered. QHSF consults a wide variety of resources to assess the quality of different programs once applications are submitted and this constitutes a major criterion for the short listing of an application.

Can I submit my application form electronically or by hand?
No. The application form is only accepted by postal mail or through our FEDEX account, as per the instructions provided in the "Required Documents" page. Please wait a week after sending the application and send us an email to ask for a confirmation of receipt. The email must be clearly titled and must contain your full name, university you are applying to and the date of sending the application.

I did not keep a copy of my application form to the university, how can I include it in my QHSF application package?
You can request a pdf copy of your application from the university's records.
